Join the HSC Board of Directors
Our BOD is composed community volunteers who are vested in making the Hilo Skateplaza Initiative a reality. Regularly scheduled board meetings are held to track the progress of the project, discuss ideas for future events and campaigns, and general organizational business. Our BOD consists of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Committee Chairpersons serving as additional directors. If interested in possibly becoming a member of the BOD, we welcome you to attend a meeting to learn more about what this entails and to get an idea about what position may be right for you.
Be part of a committee
Each phase of this project requires different committee involvement. Currently we have 3 established committees: Design Committee, Public Relations (PR) Committee, and Financial Committee (fundraising). During the current planing phase of the project, the Design and PR committees are very busy with community engagement and working directly with the County of Hawai`i and other project interest groups to make sure the final design meets the needs and desires of the community and truly represents Hilo. Currently, help on our PR committee is our biggest need. We are looking for people who love social media and are able to help us create and post engaging content on multiple social media platforms.

Once the planning phase of the project begins to wind down, we will begin our long term, intensive fundraising campaign and will nee A LOT of help on our Financial and PR committees.
Volunteer at events
If you want to help out and support us but just don't have the time to commit to being on the BOD or a committee, being an event volunteer just might be the best fit for YOU! March in a parade with us, man a booth at a public event, or help out at a fundraiser. There will be plenty of opportunity for everyone to get involved at events!
Other
Other opportunities to support the Hilo Skatplaza Initiative include sponsorships (annual and/or single event), in-kind contributions, and possibly labor volunteering opportunities (once we get to the building phase). As the project progresses, our need for different types of assistance will change so please contact us to find out what would be most useful RIGHT NOW and see if you can help!
